Based in Hastings, East Sussex, Joy creates unique colourful handmade jewellery using Silver, Enamel, and Glass.
Pieces are often reversible adding to their individuality. You can buy direct from the shop here on the website using the Paypal secure payment system or you can meet her in person at one of the fairs she attends and hear the story of how each item is lovingly made.
Using Art Clay Silver as the main material each piece is created in the silver clay to a high standard of finish before it is fired in a kiln to remove the binders and to sinter the silver particles together. After firing and polishing the jewellery is hallmarked as fine silver at the London Assay office where she has her registered mark. She also hand makes the fine silver chains she uses on her larger pieces and her bejewelled bracelets.
Joy uses transparent enamels on the fired silver so the beauty of the silver can shine through and specialises in her Enamelled Accents technique where jewel like colours are captured in fine silver wires on the surface.
